VIDEO: USW Board Team Explores Important Markets in Southeast Asia

U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) made efficient use of time during the recent Southeast Asia Board Team trip to the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. As USW Regional Vice President Joe Sowers put it, “Boots were always on the move.”

The team, made up of farmers and wheat industry representatives from Washington, Oregon and South Dakota, was led by USW Planning and Administrative Assistant Nada Obaid. The goal was to show the team activities USW conducts with the milling and baking industries in Southeast Asia, along with the relationships USW staff has built in the region.

“We literally took them off the plane in Manila directly to meetings with the milling industry so they could see our relationships with them and also meet with millers and bakers to hear about ways that the U.S. wheat export industry can collaborate with each of these important markets,” Sowers explained. “We set a busy schedule for the team, and we were able to cover a lot in a short time.”
