U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) welcomed the September 29 nomination of Greg Ibach to serve as the next Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). “We congratulate Greg Ibach on this appointment and look forward to working with him in his new role,” said USW President and CEO Mike Spier. “Ibach brings a producer perspective to this key position as a fifth-generation Nebraska farmer and rancher along with his prior USDA leadership.”

Ibach has extensive experience in agricultural policy and regulatory affairs, including serving as USDA Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs and director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. He has been recognized with several industry honors, including induction into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement.

“We are excited for this nomination that oversees important programs under USDA’s Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs mission area,” Spier said. “U.S. Wheat looks forward to working with Ibach to continue strengthening export opportunities for U.S. wheat growers and customers around the world. His leadership and understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture will be valuable as USDA continues to advance policies that support producers and expand global demand for U.S. wheat.”

Following his nomination, U.S. Wheat looks forward to Ibach’s confirmation hearing in the U.S. Senate.
