Effort to Share Information on U.S. Wheat Crop Remains Strong
As it has done for more than four decades, U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) is bringing the story of the U.S. wheat crop directly to customers around the world, pairing the release of its annual Crop Quality Report with an international series of seminars designed to help millers and other wheat buyers make informed purchasing decisions.
Available at www.uswheat.org, the 2026 report provides an in-depth look at the characteristics of this year’s crop – including protein content, test weight, kernel properties, milling performance and flour functionality. It also examines how growing conditions, harvest timing and regional differences influence the wheat available for export. It gives customers technical information they can use to evaluate U.S. wheat and determine how different classes and crop characteristics fit their milling and end-product needs.
This year’s report also includes a new addition: spaghetti data for hard red winter (HRW) wheat is included for the first time, expanding the information available to customers evaluating wheat performance in pasta production.
“Overall, the report reflects a collaborative effort throughout the U.S. wheat industry,” said Erica Oakley, USW vice president of programs, who has managed production of USW’s Crop Quality Report since 2018. “Growers, state wheat commissions, laboratories, the Great Plains Analytical Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Agriculture contribute to the collection, testing and analysis behind the annual publication, helping USW provide customers with reliable, data-driven information about the crop.”

Seminars Take Crop Information Directly to Customers
Following the report’s release, USW is conducting its annual series of Crop Quality Seminars, giving customers opportunities to discuss the findings with wheat specialists and U.S. farmers.
The 2026 schedule spans markets across South Asia, South America, sub-Saharan Africa, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, North Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa. USW expects to conduct more than 32 in-person seminars, connecting customers with current crop information and practical market insights.
USW staff members with expertise in the six U.S. wheat classes will be joined by participating farmers who can offer firsthand perspectives on wheat production and the industry behind the crop. Presentations are tailored to the needs of individual markets, with specialists covering relevant wheat classes, supply and demand, and other topics important to local customers.
The seminars are designed to help millers, purchasing managers and other industry professionals translate crop data into practical decisions about wheat sourcing and use.
Global Seminar Schedule
The seminar program began with European events in late September and October, with the international schedule continuing through early December. The itinerary includes the following stops:
- South Asia — Nov. 2-6: Jakarta, Indonesia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Manila, Philippines.
- South America — Nov. 9-16: Lima, Peru; Quito, Ecuador; Cali and Bogota, Colombia; and Santiago, Chile.
- Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean — Nov. 9-20: Events planned for Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
- North Asia — Nov. 9-16: Seoul, South Korea; Taipei, Taiwan; Tokyo, Japan; and Kunming, China.
- Middle East and North Africa — Nov. 9-11: Cairo, Egypt, and Casablanca, Morocco.

- Europe — through Dec. 3: Additional events are scheduled for Milan and Altamura, Italy, and Porto, Portugal, following earlier seminars in Spain and a virtual European session.
The Crop Quality Seminar schedule includes a range of USW technical specialists and farmer representatives who will help explain crop characteristics and regional market considerations.
“By combining detailed crop analysis with direct engagement, we aim to give international customers more than a snapshot of the harvest,” said USW Director of Programs Catherine Miller. “The report and seminars provide a practical foundation for understanding the 2026 crop, evaluating wheat options and building confidence in purchasing decisions.”
For customers around the world, that combination of reliable data, technical expertise and firsthand industry perspectives remains an important part of USW’s work to connect global wheat buyers with the U.S. wheat industry.
